While on the subjects of finding your own inner Gaia, I think it’s imperative that we unleash another aspect of ourselves: our inner fairytale goddess: the inner part of you that is starting to slowly transform, and tip-toe back into the world. The part of you that is no longer floundering, but trying to unleash your real self, not unlike the fairytale heroines that came before you. When we are starting to swim like the little mermaid and find new adventures. When we build up enough courage to run through the forest like little red riding hood, amongst the wolves, without a care in the world – on your own path ahead. When we may step into holes and be forced to self-navigate strange new wonderland worlds like Alice. And where finally,
after much soul-searching, you may come full-circle and find your own path, and heart, just like Dorothy did in the wizard of Oz.
What do these stories all have in common?
There are times on our healing journey when, upon building our strength again – we may find ourselves travelling from destination to destination: hoping to land safely somewhere, back to where it feels like home.
It may mean that you must take your courage with you to action out your travel plans. It might also mean that you might just jump off into the unknown, and swim feverishly with your fears beside you.
Why it’s ok to swim and seek possibilities
As you transform and build your goddess bravery, you will, in time, learn new rhythms of being. You’ll soon learn to dive under the water, lay out your beautiful, sparkly fins, and tackle the waves of the ocean and simply: swim. Not because you necessarily want to, but because if you don’t–you wont be able to transform into the brave goddess you wish to become.
After the upheaval of the last couple of years, it is perfectly ok to dive in and explore many other facets of your skills and abilities: professionally and personally. So you can evolve and grow: to be open to what is ahead of you. As you swim you may twist and turn, you may swim upstream or downstream, you may swim from port to port to test and challenge yourself, and what’s the worst thing that can happen? You’ll bask in a sea of possibilities.
Got nothing to lose, girl? It’s time to swim big!
So let’s dive deeply into why its ok to swim and why you deserve to swim, especially in our ever-changing world
It helps you move past your fear
When we think of doing something new. We initially get excited to bring a new skill into our lives. But then, seconds later, we start overthinking it, and talk ourselves out of it. Then your inner nay-sayer knocks on your door. You start doubting you can do something new; you freeze up, and then hesitate: creating all these imaginery scenarios of what could go wrong instead of right.
We let fear take over.
But you are not alone.
Doing something new is like swimming upstream, or into the unknown. And the unknown is scary. But it doesn’t have to be. Think of it as gifting yourself with new knowledge. Think of this as investing in yourself. Try one class. Try a workshop. Check in on how you feel. You may surprise yourself. And if that new lagoon doesnt turn out to be the destination you thought you wanted? Then try something else
It brings you unstuck
Swimming is a way of shifting you out of your mould. Of breaking you out of your comfort zone, and freeing your mind up to feeling better. It also builds your self confidence. Think of it as a way to working on yourself: like a painting. You are investing in yourself to recreate a newer, better, masterpiece of you
It’s a way for you to grow
Swimming this way and that can open you up to new seeds of knowledge, to build your resilience and self esteem! None of us on this planet were made to stand around like statues. None of us are robots. Life is ever – moving, and you should be too.
It’s ok to swim from hobby to hobby. To search for that exact thing that makes you energised, that make you light up. It may not be easy to swim through, it may tire you. Or maybe, just maybe, it will bring you the peace and purpose you are searching for.
So dive…
Into an ocean of possibilities. Take a journey beyond your wildest dreams and swim on. Wade and glide up the rivers, streams and lost lagoons, towards the elements of life, that hold the essence of your dreams. Swim on, twisting and turning, to embrace the oppotunities that has been placed before you. Come upon each experience as a journey, and then swim on to the next port.
Life is full of possibilities. It’s ok to swim.
